Restaurant Lastage* is a small restaurant located on the Geldersekade in the Lastage district of Amsterdam. This neighbourhood got its name when De Waag was still the gateway to Amsterdam. The trading ships ensured that the harbour island developed into a prosperous trading island. With the Red Light District around the corner, the restaurant is located in a lively, adventurous location.

Those who are small must think big. Due to the current Covid-19 measures, the restaurant was moved this summer to the International Theatre Amsterdam on the Leidseplein.

Lastage, an Old Dutch term with a French sound, seemed to have been a perfect match for chef Rogier van Dam. Classically French schooled, but with its roots deeply rooted in the North Holland polder. The dishes are simple and traditional, but the chef is not afraid to innovate.

The sommelier, Naduah Bronsveld, was born in a real Amsterdam catering establishment. You preferred to be seen with a bottle of wine in her hand, with a pronounced love for bubbles and nebbiolo. In the end, she always wishes to please the guests.

The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2001 and received 15 points at Gault&Millau. They are also ranked 87 in the Lekker top 100, 2020. The award-winning Michelin sticker hangs downstairs in the basement. It's not that the chef isn't happy with it, on the contrary, but he certainly doesn't flaunt it. Having a Michelin star brings certain expectations such as being expensive or stiff and Rogier wants to keep himself far away from that.
