The restaurant is on an interesting little street like so many in Amsterdam. First impressions are lasting ones and if there was more thought put into the decor of the entrance it would make such a positive change. It needs work.

The service: we waited forever to get our drink orders taken and then 10 minutes later I received my glass of red wine, which was very pleasant, but my husband had to wait another 10 minutes for his beer. Really? It is not a huge restaurant and the servers were walking around not being terribly busy.
The food: was fine. Nothing to write home about and we were expecting better from reading the reviews. Why is Asian food so disappointing in NL? There is no reason for serving food with flavours and styles of the 60’s. Visit Vancouver. Learn what chefs and good cooks are doing. Come back and make a fortune selling really good food.
My husband and I went to Bo Nam during the Amsterdam restaurant week for a 4 course dinner. We had a very nice waiter, she was quick and did not miss any detail form our oder. Food was delicious.

Everything was nice, however we received too much food (I know this is not something to complain about), but we really ate too much. I think the portion of the courses are do not match the amount of courses perfectly. We asked to pack the most of the main course so we could take it home, and waiter was super helpful with this as well. Dessert was incredible.
One possible improvement - we did not really enjoy the cocktails much, however, food was great.

About Bo Nam
Cuisine: Asian, Vietnamese
Bo Nam is a restaurant/ bar concept located in the vibrant city center of Amsterdam since late 2016, near the infamous Leidseplein. The initiative of starting a Vietnamese restaurant with a hint of French bistro, originated from a long lasting friendship between five hospitality entrepreneurs and their shared love for Asia and its rich food culture (Nam in Vietnamese, simultaneously translates as five, as well as the South of Viet Nam).
Local entrepreneurs Bao An Nguyen Phuoc (Nghia N Nghia), Nghia Huynh (Nghia N Nghia), Thuan Hoang (Blender), Casper Reinders (Jimmy Woo, Bo Cinq, Lion Noir, Chicago Social Club, A L’Elephant du Congo, Blue Boy d’ Amsterdam) and Ho Kai Yen (Dynasty, Bo Cinq, Lion Noir, Woo Bro’s) intended to create a contemporary oriental ambiance, without making obvious choices. Hence, the easy-going urban experience and the eclectic interior design.
